NYC’s Queer Hip Hop Aesthetics (Oct 26)
Join Dr. Shante Paradigm Smalls as they discuss the launch of their new book Hip Hop Heresies: Queer Aesthetics in New York City. In conversation with Dr. Mark V Campbell, Dr. Smalls will draw on their vast knowledge as a scholar, author and researcher of Black popular culture to explore and invite the audience into the queer aesthetics origins of hip hop in New York City.

Working in Multicultural Teams Using Intercultural Perspectives (Oct 27)
One of the strengths of working in teams is the ability to bring diverse viewpoints together. With our teams becoming more diverse, there are numerous benefits to ensuring the cultivation of various cultural viewpoints. In this workshop, participants will learn how to collaborate effectively by leveraging cultural differences and similarities. Participants will get a chance to learn about the different intercultural frameworks, skills, and tools and put them to practice right away!
Changemakers: Kimahli Powell: LGBTQI+ Individuals & the Search for Home
Rainbow Railroad, founded in 2006, is actively working with the Government of Canada, and local politicians, and joined by activists here in Canada and around the world to support LGBTQI+ people to escape persecution and find a new home in a more accepting community. Join the discussion with Hart House Warden John Monahan and Rainbow Railroad’s Executive Director, Kimahli Powell.

Tastes of Culture: 2022-23 (Oct 20)
UTM International Education Centre and Hart House co-present a multi-session journey to explore and expand our understanding of how food informs culture and wellness. Each session will be an interactive conversation, led by a food and culture expert who will share a recipe that is significant to their culture and personal history.
