What’s Coming Up at the Graduate Centre for Academic Communication (GCAC)

The Graduate Centre for Academic Communication’s (GCAC) workshop series “Getting through Graduate Work” continues in November. This series of 90-minute single sessions covers a wide range of topics; this month’s lineup includes the following:

  • Effective Use of Scientific Illustrations, Graphs and Tables (Nov. 6)
  • Writing Literature Reviews (Nov. 13)
  • Maximizing Your Poster Presentations (Nov. 20)

We’ll also be holding workshops designed to support your academic career.  In November, here’s what you can expect:

  • Team Work for Researchers (Nov. 5)
  • Preparing for Media Interviews about Your Research (Nov. 12)
  • Strategies for Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Presentations (Nov. 19)

Finally, learn how to upgrade your academic writing skills in GCAC’s 5-workshop series running throughout November – “Improve Your Graduate Writing.”  Whether you regard yourself as a poor writer or a good one, this series can help you in your quest to become a great one! Try to make them all! Each Thursday, we’ll focus on a different important aspect of writing:

  • Understanding Tone (Nov. 1)
  • Managing Flow (Nov. 8)
  • Establishing Coherence (Nov. 15)
  • Achieving Correctness (Nov. 22)
  • Becoming a Productive Writer (Nov. 29)

No advance registration is needed for GCAC workshops. Consult the workshop schedule on our website for times, locations, and descriptions.
