What’s Coming Up at GCAC

GCAC Winter Workshops

GCAC offers a wide variety of 90-minute workshops, each focusing on a specific aspect of academic communication. No registration is required for GCAC workshops, and all members of the University of Toronto community are welcome to attend as many workshops as they wish. Of particular interest is the 4-workshop series on “Developing and Pitching a Research Project.”

Please visit our website, where you’ll find descriptions of all our workshops and a full Winter schedule, so you can plan in advance.

Writing Centre Consultations

One-on-one consultations are available for graduate students who seek individualized assistance with their writing. In these 40-minute sessions, trained instructors work with you to improve your capacity to plan, write, and revise your academic assignments. Instructors do not edit for you; they teach you to revise and edit your own work. The appointments can be booked online. Appointments are usually released for booking two to three weeks in advance of the actual appointment dates.

Don’t forget to mark on your calendars that registration for the next session of GCAC courses on academic writing and speaking opens at 10 am on February 6.  Check out what’s on offer and the schedule on our website.

For the March-April session at GCAC, we’ve programmed a wide array of non-credit courses designed to make you a more effective writer, presenter and all-round communicator. We offer writing and speaking courses, with separate sections designed to meet the needs of grad students whose first language is English and those who are non-native speakers of English. All GCAC courses are free for registered U of T graduate students.
