What grad students need to know about intellectual property – April 9

As a graduate student, you may work in multiple roles at U of T, and this has implications for your intellectual property rights and how you interact with the intellectual property of others in your research activities. Join us online on April 9, from 12-1:30 p.m. for a new workshop on intellectual property, collaboration, commercialization and entrepreneurship specifically for graduate student researchers.

Hosted by the Centre for Graduate Professional Development, and facilitated by Jennifer Fraser, Director of Innovation in the Innovations & Partnerships Office, this workshop will cover essential topics for graduate students at the University of Toronto, including:

  • Understanding your intellectual property rights, including in the context of working with a research supervisor or collaborators
  • Commercializing intellectual property arising from your research
  • Working with confidential information or intellectual property from an external research sponsor
