Welcome from the School of Graduate Studies
Welcome to the 2018-19 academic year—and to the August edition of Gradschool e-news!
Gradschool e-news will keep you updated on key deadlines, awards opportunities, and grad-focused events and initiatives across U of T’s three campuses. We welcome your contributions: tell us about student-run projects that will have an impact on the larger graduate community, and send us your student event listings. Nominate your graduate administrator or coordinator for recognition in Gradschool e-news, or share advice with fellow students about how to transition smoothly to life in Toronto and to graduate studies at U of T.
Gradschool e-news is just one of the ways in which SGS serves the graduate community. You may already be aware that the SGS website and Essential Guide for Grad Students are helpful resources. Did you know that SGS services run the gamut from graduate wellness counselling, financial aid and advising, and accessibility advising to professional development courses and workshops? Come visit us at the SGS Student Academic Services office (Room 101, 63 St. George St.), open Monday to Friday (August: 9:30 am – 4:00 pm; September: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm, with extended hours on September 12) to learn more.
I also welcome your feedback about your graduate experience, and would like to hear how SGS can better support you from admission to graduation. Ask your graduate unit about signing up for a Dean’s Brunch or Dean’s Coffee event, where you can meet peers from all divisions, share your thoughts, and ask questions.
On behalf of SGS, I wish you a very successful year.
Luc De Nil,
Acting Dean, School of Graduate Studies and Acting Vice-Provost, Graduate Research and Education
