Statement from U of T President Meric Gertler on the crisis in Iran
Last week, U of T President Meric Gertler released a statement about the political crisis unfolding in Iran. In it, he highlighted some of the supports available to current and prospective U of T students who are being affected by these events.
The School of Graduate Studies recognizes that this is a challenging time for students and members of our community with ties to Iran. At this time, we are working closely with graduate units to support current and incoming students as best we can. If you or a close friend require an extension, mental health supports, or any other accommodations, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the leadership of your graduate department.
We also want to remind you that SGS offers emergency grants for current graduate students who are in need, as well as interest-free loans for students with limited or restricted access to personal funds. If you have questions about any of these measures, please contact sgs.financial.assistance@utoronto.ca.
Further, graduate students also have access to the following student resources across our campuses:
- Health and Wellness Centre (St. George Campus)
- Health and Wellness Centre (UTSC)
- Health and Counselling Centre (UTM)
- My SSP (support available 24/7/365)
- Centre for International Experience (St. George Campus)
- International Student Centre (UTSC)
