Want to strengthen your research skills, gain interdisciplinary training, and connect with mentors across Canada? STAGE offers master’s and PhD students, and postdoctoral fellows advanced training in genomic data science through mentorship, coursework, hands-on research, seminars, workshops, professional development, and mobility opportunities. Trainees receive a research allowance to help cover costs such as courses, upskilling, travel, and accommodation for conferences or workshops.
STAGE is a Canada-wide training program in molecular epidemiology and statistical -omics that brings together experts in genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics, computer science, AI, population health, and other research areas. Through inter- and cross-disciplinary mentorship, formal coursework, and hands-on research, trainees develop skills in AI-driven genomic data science, advanced -omics methodologies, and rigorous data integration, data management, privacy, and security in order to accelerate three core training and research areas that are central to future breakthroughs in biomedical science:
- Artificial intelligence (AI) in genomics.
- Methods and analysis of new -omic technologies.
- Methods and analysis of biobank-scale data, electronic medical records (EMR), and their integration with -omics.
As a STAGE trainee, you’ll complete a mentored research project and connect with a national network of experts through seminars, courses, workshops, professional development, and mobility opportunities. STAGE is designed to strengthen your technical and research skills while helping prepare you for a future career in genomic data science.
