In this workshop, you will learn how to apply your research skills to explore career options and all aspects of the job search process from networking to creating job application materials and interviewing.

Grad Career Educator AMA – Job Search and Career Exploration (Online)
October 20, 4–4:30 p.m.

This Ask Me Anything (AMA) session for master’s and PhD students and postdocs will focus on job search and career exploration strategies. The Graduate Career Educator from Career Exploration & Education will answer your questions and direct you to additional resources on best practices for job searching and career exploration.

Discover and Communicate Your Career Skills (Online)
October 30, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.

In this in-person interactive workshop for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, participants will learn how to identify transferrable skills that apply to non-academic career settings. You will also have the opportunity to practice communicating these skills in relation to the job search process.

Feeling overwhelmed with the job search? Not sure how to build networks and communities of support? Confused about whether you need to go to graduate school or not?

Join us for Career Chats – a weekly in-person meet-up where you can ask questions, share frustrations, and discuss strategies around careers in an inclusive small-group learning environment together with fellow U of T students/recent alumni and a Career Educator!

Disclosure and Accommodation Strategies for the Workplace (Online)
October 10, 1–2:30 p.m. 

Navigating disclosure and accommodations can feel intimidating or overwhelming. In this interactive themed discussion, co-facilitated by a Career Educator and the Experiential Learning Accommodations Coordinator, you and a group of your peers will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss strategies for navigating disclosure and accommodations in the workplace.

Identities @ Work: Navigating Parenting, Caregiving & Work (Hybrid)
October 23, 1–2 p.m.

Join us over coffee, tea, and snacks to

  • Develop strategies to identify employers that support the priorities and needs of parents and caregivers
  • Acknowledge and identify systemic barriers parents and caregivers face when seeking and maintaining employment
  • Learn how to honour parenting and caregiving skills on your resume, and how, when and if to address resume gaps
  • Develop structures of support and identify resources that can support you in finding balance between job-seeking, working, parenting and caregiving
