“Navigating UofT Systems, Resources and Your Own Expectations”  

Join us for a session that will help you navigate your experience at UofT as a new international graduate student. Gain valuable tips and insights from returning and new international students on where to find what you need and learn from their experience. You will have the opportunity to reflect on your own expectations and share your concerns and questions with other international students.

Service Canada-Services and Updates Webinar 

Service Canada is hosting a live webinar for International students. Join us to learn about the services at Service Canada, including the issuance of Social Insurance Numbers. Service Canada staff will also provide an overview of updates to programs, services and available benefits. 

Please note that Service Canada staff cannot determine an individual’s eligibility for benefits during this session. The webinar link will be emailed to you when you register.

Permanent Residency in Canada Webinar 

Are you an international student interested in staying in Canada permanently after graduation? Join us to learn about the different permanent residency programs. Staff members from Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will be on campus to give an information session about the Express Entry Program.

Post-Graduation Work Permit Info Session 

Are you interested in staying in Canada and working after graduation? You may be eligible for a work permit valid for up to three years. Join us to learn about the post-graduation work permit (PGWP). Topics to be covered include eligibility criteria, required documents and forms, and the online application process.

Income Taxes in Canada and Updates from the CRA 

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is hosting a live webinar for international students. Join us to learn about the Canadian income tax system, your responsibilities as an international student, what tax credits, refunds or benefits you might be eligible for, and how income taxes are filed in Canada. Staff from the Canada Revenue Agency will discuss the process, share updates and answer general questions.  

Please note that CRA staff cannot provide individual tax advice during this session. Once you register on CLNx, you will receive an email with information on how to register for the webinar on Webex.

Are you an international student who would like to work in Canada? If so, join us to learn about your legal rights and obligations when it comes to working in Canada. How to apply online to renew your study permit and entry visa 

Join us to learn about the online application process for renewing your study permit and entry visa. 
The session will topics including navigating the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website, creating an account with IRCC, completing the online Eligibility Questionnaire, and more.

Intercultural Film Series: Beyoncé, Blackness and Black is King 

Upon the release of her iconic film Black is King, Beyoncé continues to make a statement about what it means to be a Black woman in America. Her new film, Black is King, was released at a time when the Black Lives Matter movement continues to advocate and protest the brutal murder and violence towards Black men, women and children in North America and around the world. With this film as an extension of Beyonce’s interpretation of local and global Blackness, what does she say and represent? 

This event is in partnership with UTSC’s International Student Centre and UTM’s International Education Centre – a great chance to connect with tri-campus peers!

DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service Graduate Programs Info Session 

The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Program offers two exchange programs for undergraduate and graduate students who wish to pursue graduate-level studies or research in Germany. Please join us for an information session which will cover the program requirements and the application process. Learn more and register on CLNx!

Led by international students on topics passionate to them, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn, and connect with other students around shared interests. September’s discussion is on becoming more eco-friendly.
