Inlight Student Mental Health Research – 2026-27 Research Fellowship Program – deadline September 15

Inlight Student Mental Health Research, an Institutional Strategic Initiative of the University of Toronto committed to improving postsecondary student mental health and wellness outcomes, is pleased to announce the 2026-27 call for the Inlight Research Fellowship Program.

Value: $5,000 award (graduate student stipend)

Duration: October 2026 to April 2027

Purpose: The Inlight Research Fellowship Program supports University of Toronto graduate students who are leading or planning research projects with a primary focus relevant to postsecondary student mental health and wellness. Postsecondary student mental health is inclusive of mental wellness, mental illness and substance misuse. It encompasses the full length of a student’s journey—from transitions into postsecondary education to graduation—and the full range of student mental health experiences, from community and individual well-being to clinical intervention, inside the classroom and out.

Fellows will receive a $5,000 stipend and participate in a structured training program designed to develop knowledge and research skills related to postsecondary student mental health and wellness. The 2026-27 Fellowship Program will include in-person workshops, asynchronous research training, a scaffolded Knowledge Mobilization Project, peer review, networking, and opportunities to share work with the Inlight community.

Domestic and international master’s and doctoral students enrolled at the University of Toronto in a program of study that includes a research project are eligible to apply. Applicants must be leading or planning a research project with a primary focus relevant to postsecondary student mental health and wellness. The applicant’s primary supervisor must normally be a full member of the University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies, be eligible to supervise graduate students, and be eligible to hold research funding at the University of Toronto or at their primary institution. Please refer to the Fellowship Program web page for complete eligibility criteria and conditions of funding.

Application deadline: September 15, 2026 at 12 p.m. ET

How to apply: Applicants can access the complete application guidelines, required templates, and online application forms through the Inlight Research Fellowship Program Application web page.
