Indigenous Scholars awards and supplements pilot initiative (for CGS M applicants)- Dec. 1 deadline

As a pilot project, SSHRC and NSERC launched the Indigenous Scholars Awards and Supplements Pilot Initiative in 2022 to further strengthen their support for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students at the master’s level, who have applied to the Canada Graduate Scholars—Master’s program (CGS M).

The Indigenous Scholars Award is valued at $17,500 over 12 months.

The Indigenous Scholars Supplement is valued at $5,000 over 12 months.

  • Eligibility: All CGS M applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis are eligible.

An integrated module within the CGS M application through which applicants will self-identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis via a two-factor process, including a personal statement.
