Ignite Your Imagination: The Art Revealing Science Symposium awaits you!

Join us for an enlightening and immersive experience with the Art Revealing Science Symposium. This event is open to all students, faculty, and alumni at the University of Toronto and community members! Delve into the symbiosis of scientific innovation and artistic expression! 

What to expect:

  1. Art competition: Listen along as artists unveil and present their artwork to a panel of judges – emphasizing the intersection of art and science. 
  2. Keynote & panel discussion: We are honoured to present Sonya Amin as our keynote speaker. A University of Toronto alumna and a pioneering force behind AXS Studio, Sonya leads a team renowned for transforming complex scientific concepts into captivating visual narratives. Our distinguished panelists include Dr. Jodie Jenkinson (Professor and Director of Biomedical Communications at U of T and Principal Investigator of the Science Visualization Lab), Dr. Allison Crawford (Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Chief Medical Officer of 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline and the Founding Director of HeART Lab), and Heather Brown (Art Therapist and Registered Psychotherapist). 
  3. Gallery viewing, & networking: Connect with a diverse group of professionals, academics, students, and community members to find new perspectives for science communications. 
  4. Awards ceremony: Be part of an awards ceremony that honours the art pieces that best exemplify the transformative power of art in communicating science.
