Gradlife events for new and returning students
Join a virtual games night, meet new people, and have fun at these September events brought to you by Gradlife.
Grad Escape: Games Night for Incoming Students (Codenames, Gartic Phone, and Skribbl)
Thursday, September 23, 7-8:30pm
Virtual Games Night is the perfect event for those who love to play games and want to get to know other Grad students! No experience is necessary, and all you have to bring is yourself! Our Gradlife Ambassador Katie will plan a series of fun online games for the group to try out in a low stakes, humour-filled environment. Get ready to play!
Grad Talk: Equity 101: 6 Conversations about Equity
Friday, September 24, 2-4pm
We talk a lot about “equity” on campus but what do we really mean? Do we have the same understanding? How does it relate to our everyday lives here on campus? What is it missing? This workshop explores these questions while also creating a space for us to think about what commitments we can make around continuing to learn more while putting what we have learned into action.
Grad Talk: Talking to New People Online for Graduate Students
Tuesday, September 28, 12-1:30pm
Do you find talking to new people difficult? Do your fears hold you back from making connections? Are you finding it hard to build meaningful connections in online environments? You’re not alone! Talking and connecting with new people is a challenge that everyone faces (even for Graduate students) and we created this workshop to help you develop the skills you need to not only make new connections, but to manage the fear and anxiety that comes along with it. In this workshop, we will teach you how to make new connections during your graduate programs and you will practice these skills so that you’ll leave with experience, and confidence that will help you continue talking to new people.
Grad Connection: Returning Grad Students: How do you plan to enhance your graduate experience this semester?
Thursday, September 30, 12-1:30pm
Take a break and connect with your graduate peers at our virtual chat forum. Share your experiences in an informal setting. It’s not too late to start getting involved beyond your academic work! We will share and discuss ways of getting involved on campus beyond your academic department. A facilitator will be available to answer questions and support you in navigating resources.
