Government loans for U.S. students

U.S. citizens, or eligible non-U.S. citizens as defined by the U.S. Department of Education, who are accepted in an eligible program at the University of Toronto may apply for financial assistance from the U.S. Federal Direct Loan Program. If you have already submitted your 2022-23 FAFSA, there are two additional steps that need to be completed before your FAFSA can be processed by the University of Toronto. Complete eligibility requirements and step-by-step information about the US Direct Loans program can be found at http://uoft.me/usloans.

U.S. students may also consider alternative or private loans. If you have already submitted an application for a loan through a private lender for the 2022-23 academic year, there are two additional steps that need to be completed for your alternative/private loan to be certified by the University of Toronto. The complete step-by-step information can be found at http://uoft.me/usloans; click on the link “Assistance for US Students: Alternative/Private Loans”.
