The Family Care Office invites incoming and current students with family responsibilities to Orientation 2020!

Start building your support networks and learn how to be proactive and prepared so you can successfully navigate your degree while caring for others:

• Meet other students with family responsibilities and university staff
• Learn about services and resources on campus
• Discover strategies and insights from current students with family responsibilities on how to adjust to university life

Registration required. All incoming & returning U of T students with family responsibilities are welcome.

Opportunities

Become a Family Care Office Peer Mentor!

We are looking for students with family responsibilities (children or caring for a loved one) who have been at U of T for at least one year and can share their practical skills on how to better integrate studies and family life. Peer mentors will receive Co-Curricular Record recognition. Training will be provided. Interested students are asked to fill out and submit the application form found on the Family Care Office Peer Mentorship Program page.

Parenting in a pandemic

We’ve asked a few experts to join us to talk about parenting in quarantine, specifically: how to deal with disappointment in the age of COVID-19 (dun, dun, duuuun). From cancelled family trips to questions about camp to celebrating their birthdays without friends, kids are dealing with so much disappointment and confusion right now. How should you handle it? How much should you tell them? Tune in for advice on managing your little ones’ expectations while we all weather this unprecedented storm.
