Emerging and Pandemic Infections Consortium – 2025 Doctoral Awards – deadline November 8

The University of Toronto Emerging and Pandemic Infections Consortium (EPIC) is pleased to announce a new call for Doctoral Awards.

Value: $10,000/year

Duration: One year

Purpose: EPIC Doctoral Awards are designed to support a cohort of multi/interdisciplinary trainees engaged in collaborative research in infectious diseases. These competitive awards support outstanding students supervised by faculty from the University of Toronto and EPIC’s partner research institutes. Applicants for these merit-based awards will be evaluated using the submitted application package.

To be considered for the award, applicants must:

  1. Be registered as a full-time graduate student between January-December 2025
  2. Have successfully completed their qualification or reclassification exam for PhD candidacy within the last two calendar years, between January 2023 and December 2024, or have completed their second or third year of a direct entry PhD program in 2024
  3. Be pursuing a research project that has an infectious disease focus
  4. Have a faculty supervisor whose primary affiliation is at U of T or one of EPIC’s partner hospitals (The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute at Sinai Health, Sunnybrook Research Institute, Unity Health Toronto, and the University Health Network)

Please also note that to qualify to receive an EPIC Doctoral Award, the applicant cannot:

  1. be a past EPIC Doctoral Award winner and,
  2. concurrently hold another major award ($10,000 or more) for the full duration of the award term (January-December 2025).
