The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) is inviting all graduate students in research-stream and professional programs to apply for a role on the 2026-2027 Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC), an initiative established by the Dean, School of Graduate Studies.
What is the role of this committee?
To provide advice and recommendations to the Dean on university-wide graduate student matters, including academic programs, student experience, professionalization, graduate research, and any other matters that the Dean may bring to the committee for input.
Committee members may also bring forward ideas for new initiatives and/or improvements to current practice in graduate education, research, and student experience at the University of Toronto.
The committee meets for one hour, monthly over the academic year. Meetings occur on Wednesdays at 11:00AM. When submitting your application, please consider your availability to attend meetings in this timeslot as they are set in advance and members are expected to attend all meetings.
Members are welcome to attend meetings in person at SGS (65 St. George Street), however, there is always a hybrid option provided.
Who can apply?
SGS aims to assemble a committee that represents our vibrant and diverse graduate student community, including students from all three U of T campuses, all four SGS Divisions, and both master’s and doctoral-level programs, as well as students from underrepresented groups.
The deadline to apply is Friday, August 21, 2026 at 5 p.m.
If you have any questions, please e-mail Ellen MacPherson at e.macpherson@utoronto.ca.
