Call for applications – Connaught PhDs for Public Impact Fellowship

The School of Graduate Studies invites applications to the 2026-2027 Connaught PhDs for Public Impact Fellowship. This in-person, cohort-based fellowship program supports PhD students as they make connections outside the university through innovative forms of public scholarship. 

Program overview:  

  • A cohort of 15 fellows will be chosen, including a minimum of two fellows from each of the four SGS divisions (humanities, social sciences, life sciences, physical sciences)
  • Fellows must complete a public scholarship initiative and present it at a public showcase
  • Applicants must be full-time PhD/SJD students at the University of Toronto
  • Each fellow will be awarded $12,500: a $10,000 fellowship as a top-up to their stipend and $2,500 towards project expenses and/or professional development
  • Fellowship applications are due to SGS by January 29
