July 28: Dealing with Inequalities at Workplaces

COVID-19 and the recent movements calling for equality and justice have both posed and exposed unprecedented challenges to the way of working and life for every professional graduate student. Aiming to address some of the practical concerns of our members, many of whom have to juggle between multiple commitments in studies, work, and family responsibilities, the Professional Caucus presents the “Being a Pro Grad Student in Challenging Times” monthly online event series every last Tuesday this summer.

July: Dealing with Inequalities at Workplaces

Time: 7-8:30 pm (subject to change), 28th July 2020 | Access: Zoom | Register here
Speakers (confirmed): Mr. Emilio José Goya (Scotiabank), Ms. Tricia Gazarek (Lewis & Gazarek)

Inequalities and discriminations exist in Canada and must be addressed. At workplaces, inequalities and discriminatory behaviours may come in various types and forms against minorities in areas incl. race, place of origin, sex, sexual orientation, disabilities and beyond. The Professional Caucus will be inviting representatives (particularly board members and HR professionals) from corporate, non-profit, and public institutions to discuss practical matters concerning inequalities at workplaces and pathways to address and remediate such problems.

August: Plan My Finances like a Pro

Time: 7-8:30 pm (subject to change), 25th August 2020 | Access: Zoom | Register here
Speaker: TBD

Professional grad students may have very realistic and more pressing personal finances initiatives while the wide array of financial vehicles and financial planning options available in Canada may provide more confusion if not properly understood. The Professional Caucus will be inviting certified financial planners to help address commonly encountered financial planning myths and best practices.
