Graduate Students – Navigate Your Career in Academia: An Overview of the Academic Job Search
August 15, 12:00–1:30 p.m.
This workshop is aimed at PhD students and postdoctoral fellows interested in pursuing careers as university faculty. The session will provide a general overview of the academic job search process, including types of positions, hiring timelines, and components of the academic dossier. You will gain a better understanding of what to expect when applying for academic positions and will leave with resources to support you as you prepare your application documents.

- Looking for ways to stay motivated in your job search?
- Finding it difficult to look for work on your own?
- Applied to a number of jobs but not hearing back and wonder what other actions you can take to enhance your job search strategy?
Job searching can be an exciting, but stressful process of transition. Learning alongside others who are also looking for work can help you stay motivated. Facilitated by a Career Educator, each session will explore job search-related challenges, strategies, tools and resources.
Interview Strategies (Online)
August 8, 10:00–11:30 a.m.
Interviews can be intimidating, but the key to success is being ready! This session will help you better prepare for in-person or virtual interviews. We will discuss how to identify and prepare for potential questions, as well as strategies for creating captivating stories that will showcase your accomplishments to potential employers. We will also discuss navigating discrimination and asking for accommodations.
