2024 DAAD scholarships: apply today

The DAAD program offers a general exchange program for undergraduate and graduate students who wish to pursue graduate-level studies or research in Germany. For more information on DAAD funding and a full list of scholarships they offer please visit the DAAD Scholarship Database.

  • DAAD Study Scholarship:
    Students in the final year of their undergraduate studies will receive a scholarship for a full Master’s degree at a German university or receive funding to complete course work at a German university towards their master’s degree at U of T.
  • DAAD Research Grants in Germany:
    The research grant offers the opportunity to realize a research project in Germany. The program supports research stays during a doctorate or in the early postdoc phase.
  • DAAD Research Grants – Bi-nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees/Cotutelle:
    This program offers students the opportunity to do a bi-national doctoral degree at their home university and a university in Germany.

For the study scholarships supporting master’s level study, there are individual deadlines for different program streams. Please see below for all program deadlines. You can follow the directions available on the website to submit your applications.

DAAD DEADLINES FOR STUDY SCHOLARSHIPS AND RESEARCH GRANTS:

Study scholarships – Master’s studies in all academic fields except the visual/performing arts: October 31
Research Grants in Germany: October 31 & April 30
Research Grants-Bi-nationally supervised Doctoral Degrees/Cotutelle: October 31
Study Scholarships-Post graduate studies in the field of Performing arts: October 14

The CIE will only nominate candidates for the October 31 deadline, study scholarships and research grants in Germany are then submitted to DAAD New York. The remainder of the streams are adjudicated in Bonn and applications to these are sent directly there.
